SUST-FRIDGE is a 1-year environmental sustainability project that CSIR-IIR is currently working on with University of Nottingham, UK and PCM Products Limited, UK.
The project which has a funding of almost Two Hundred Thousand Pounds aims at developing a cooling system that incorporates a Phase Change Material (PCM) which could be used for food and medicine applications in weak grid or off grid settings.
Project key objectives includes but not limited to the following:
The project also seeks to provide an affordable cooling technology, identify a reliable Phase Change Material (PCM) for development, synthesis and optimization, simulate/model and optimize main components and integrated Sust-Fridge refrigerator.
Ultimately, the project will design, model and test Sust-Fridge prototype and work towards obtaining certification for environmental and social acceptance of Sust-Fridges.
